Hairstyle inspiration for the weekend

A low ponytail is one of the most versatile hairstyles: it goes from running errands on a Saturday morning to cocktail parties and Sunday picnics. We also saw how versatile it is here and here!

The first step is to brush the hair with the aim of leaving it flat on the top of the head and shape the ends. With a thin cord comb, make a line by splitting the hair in half and then position it behind the ear. Then apply some hair ointment to the palms of the hands, distribute them through the hair strands so that they remain close to the scalp and fasten with an elastic band. Complete the ponytail using a lock of hair to go around the ponytail and make it even more sophisticated.

The Duchess of Cambridge, her mother Carole Middleton and sister Pippa Middleton were regular attendees of Wimbledon this year. Their Wimbledon style is incredibly chic without being showy, as their usual style is. The classic and elegant looks are very inspiring, not only to watch tennis but also for the summer months. Hairstyle inspiration for the weekend

This weekend I am going to try a braid tiara! It is not a hairstyle easy to do at first, but it is worth to give it a try because it looks very pretty and polished!

The hairstyle is ideal for everybody because just by shredding and giving a little volume to the fringe, all types of faces are elongated.

Here is a helpful guide:

To make a braid tiara, start with a blow dry with a smooth finish. Then separate two strands at the height of the ears, make two braids, cross them over the head to form a tiara and fasten with hair pins. To make it even more polished (and like the woman in the picture above), complete the production by dividing the front of the hair in the middle and hanging behind the head – overlapping the braid – to form a hairstyle half-trapped. Finish with hair spray.

9 Tips To Avoid Having Your Suitcase Misplaced During Your Flight

Losing your suitcase is the nightmare of any traveler. If this has happened to you, stay calm, there are ways to keep it from repeating itself. After all, no one deserves to come on vacation and be without a change of clothes! Here are 9 tricks that can help to avoid this situation:

1- Remove all stickers from previous flights

If you find it beautiful to see your suitcase with a bunch of stickers from previous flights, you run a serious risk of not finding yours on the baggage carousel on your next trip. It may end up in the destination of some flight you’ve done in the past. The ideal situation is to put only your personal data on it.

2- Check-in in advance

According to airport officials, the most common cause of lost luggage is the late check-in. The later you do, the more likely it is that the suitcase will not arrive in time for the plane, especially if you are at a large airport.

3- Ask them to put a ‘fragile’ tag on your luggage

This is a well-known trick of Internet users. Let the airline official know that you have fragile things in your bag. They will glue the indicated adhesive and it is more likely that the bag is treated with ‘care’ and do not get lost.

4- The luggage must have bright colors, but it’s good that they do not look very expensive

It is simple: a suitcase that looks expensive may end up in the hands of others and a black suitcase may end up in the hands of many other passengers who have an equal. It is best to choose a flashy color, but that does not look expensive.

5- Calculate connection time well

This one happened to me, right before Christmas!  In general, the bags are lost much less on direct flights. Connected flights are often trickier, especially if the connection is too fast. This makes more likely for the suitcase to not reach the other plane in time.

6- Wear protection or a special cover

Incredibly, it looks like airport baggage protections do work to prevent theft and to protect your suitcase! My sister swears by this.

7- If you have something very valuable in your suitcase, take out insurance

To avoid problems, whenever you have something very valuable in the suitcase it is better to take out insurance.

8- Use the hubs

Hub is a designation given to the airport used by an airline as a point of connection to transfer its passengers to the intended destination. Every company has its hub. According to Forbes, the baggage handling is much better.

9- Use a GPS tracker

If your bag has already been lost or if you worry too much that one day it will get lost, maybe a GPS tracker can help you. This small device is able to determine the coordinates by satellite and transmit the information to the cell phone or to the email of the owner.

Travel Bag: How to Store Cosmetics in the Suitcase

pink suitcase
How to pack cosmetics in the suitcase

You arrive at the hotel and, after collapsing in bed, open the suitcase to begin organizing your coats and clothes. Suddenly, a scent of sunscreen takes over the entire room and you notice that the bottle – that traitor – exploded right in the middle of the underwear. It is so frustrating!

If the situation never happened to you (a rarity!), I am going to share six tips so that your good luck continues and your cosmetics never leak into the suitcase. Now, if you’ve been through the drama, they’ll help you never go trough that again!

  1. Never carry new and completely filled bottles. Put some of your beauty potions in empty, self-contained packs for travel;
  2. Prefer bottles with screw cap instead of plug, which is safer;
  3. Wrap each bottle with adherent paper and duplicate the safety by placing all the liquids in a plastic bag (it is easier to clean than a cosmetics bag), separated from the rest of the hygiene contents;
  4. If the cap is slightly loose, make a “skirt” for your bottle. Open the lid, place a piece of paper adhering over the neck, and then close the lid;
  5. Tighten the products that come in a tube to exhale the air before placing in the bag. This should reduce the pressure and the probability of bursting is lower;
  6. Fragile bottles of fragrances can be wrapped in bubble wrap to cushion possible impacts. Before, use masking tape on the spray nozzle.

Have a wonderful trip!

5 beauty investments for travelers

1- Invest in travel sizes

BIODERMA Sensibio H2O Make-up Removing Micelle Solution 100ml

Small bottles and containers are always the best options, even if you are traveling by car. Big bottles of shampoo and conditioner take too much space and we never use that much, anyway. The BIODERMA Sensibio H2O Make-up Removing Micelle Solution is one of my favourites and already comes in a 100ml package.

2- Oil-Control Blotting Paper

Pureness Oil-Control Blotting Paper

I can’t live without it! You just press over your face and it removes the oiliness, without removing your makeup!

3- Face cream

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré 75ml

A powerful face cream, like the Lait-Crème, from Embryolisse, can recover any damage you have done on your skin from either hot or cold weather. It is light and can be used even as a primer for makeup.

4- Dry shampoo

Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Dry Shampoo

It is a makeup bag life savior: it creates volume, masks any excessive oiliness and leaves the hair with a natural texture.

5- Light colored nail polish

CHANEL Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour

Dark and colourful enamels tend to get older faster. So, for long trips, light colored nail polishes (that are also lovely) make chips harder to see.

Hairstyle inspiration for the weekend

Making a hairstyle with hair up can be a great option during the hottest days of the year. Ponytails are very versatile and can go from running errands during the day to formal parties. It is so pretty and so simple!

You can add volume to the front part of hair just following these simple steps:

1- Begin the style by creating a large triangle section of hair from your crown to the recession of your hairline.
2- Tease this triangle section. If your hair is super soft, add a little hairspray to the section for texture and hold.
3- Pull the teased triangle section of hair back towards your crown. Twist the hair, push it up a bit and secure with a bobby pin. Pushing up your section before securing it will give you added height.
4- Comb remaining hair back to the desired height of your ponytail. Pull tightly to keep the hair smooth.
5- Secure the ponytail with a hair band.
6- Take a small section of hair out of your ponytail, wrap it around the hair band and secure the ends of your section with a bobby pin underneath the band to conceal it and create a more polished look.

Hair Mist Favourites: My Current Top 5 Scents

One of the things I simply love and do not live without in life is perfume. I love to feel that I am smelling good. =] When I was young I had the habit of sprinkling fragrances on my hair, after all, it is delightful to smell a delicious aroma in the air when we shake our locks, right ?! Or when you are going to hug someone and that person has a lovely perfume on their hair.

There are also those occasions when we leave a restaurant with the smell of food in the hair, or even some smoke-smelling party or barbecue… Thinking about these, there is nothing better to help us on those occasions than hair mists, they exist, are many and varied, and can save our lives on many occasions.

Hair mists can be used every day, even for those who wash their hair more often. It is good not to overdo it so that the fragrance does not accumulate on the hair. It should be applied with a distance of 10 cm from the hair strands.

Currently, there are several versions on the market, with more or less fixing, but everything depends on your taste. Remember to be careful with the mixture of fragrances between your shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer and hair scent… Do not overdo it! If you, like me, love having scented hair, you will love today’s post! Here are the top 5 hair perfumes I am loving:

1- Valentino Donna Hair Mist: It is a sweet and striking hair scent. Suitable for those who like to leave their trail of fragrance in the air!

2- Angel by Mugler Perfuming Hair Mist: This makes your hair smells so good!  It isn’t as intense as the perfume, which I like. It also helps to neutralize unwanted odors.

Hairstyle inspiration for the weekend

This weekend I am willing to try something a bit more complex on my hair! And although the hair in the picture is long, I think this look can work for different lengths of hair (my hair is currently with a medium length)!

I think is a pretty hairstyle, not to trick to replicate at home and very put together! It can also go to several different occasions!

This hairstyle has two fancy braids that start from the sides and meet at the centre of the back of the head, where you should tie them into a simple pigtail. To make the braids to stay at the right place, you can apply hairspray and hidden hairpins.

You can also make the hairstyle more elegant by curling or really smoothing the loose part of the hair.

What is the correct order to apply makeup: 11 useful steps

Should the concealer be applied before or after the foundation? And what comes first: the eyes or the preparation of the skin? Even the makeup experts may already have been in doubt about the order to use the products! To make it more clear, check out this useful step by step guide! And remember, this is just a guide, the right order is the one that is the best for you!

1- Moisturizer or primer

It is terrible to spend a long time doing your makeup and in a few hours it is already cracking, right? To prevent this from happening, the tip is to always use a moisturizer and primer before applying the makeup. So, the products will not only look more beautiful on the skin but also last a lot longer!

2- Eyeshadow

But the makeup does not always start with the skin? You may be wondering, but the reason the eyeshadow is the first step to a flawless makeup is simple: avoid smudging the skin! With the brush, put on the desired colors without fear of smudges because afterwards, you just have to clean any fall outs with a q-tip and makeup remover.

3- Eyeliner

Then it’s time for the eyeliner (if you are going to do that)! With the preferred eyeliner pen, or even with a beveled brush and gel formula, just follow the upper eyelash line and extend it in the outer corner, if you want a kitten eye.

4- Foundation

Now, it’s time for the foundation! Ideal to leave the skin even, to disguise small imperfections and to facilitate the fixation of the other cosmetics, the foundation should be very well spread throughout the face and neck. In addition to choosing the right shade for your skin, it is also important to bet on the right tools.

5- Concealer

There are those who prefer to use the concealer before the foundation to quickly correct small blemishes and dark circles. However, I like to apply it after the foundation because this way you can see the areas that really need to be hidden or illuminated without excess product. In addition, when the skin is already moisturized with the foundation formula, the concealer will not crack and is going become easier to spread.

6- Face powder

It should be applied to the oily regions of the face and also under the eyes, to prevent the concealer from cracking. But it is important to spread the product very well with the help of a fluffy brush or sponge, as excess powder can make the makeup heavy.

7- Contour and Highlight

This step is optional for many people, but I like to do them when I have time! If you like to contour and highlight with cream products, do this step after the foundation and before the powder!

To contour: with a tanning powder, draw a “3” shape on the side of the face: temple, concave of cheek and jaw. For a thinner nose, just apply a little of the product on the sides, and for a shorter forehead, it is worth to leave the part close to the hair darker.

To highlight: with a brush, apply the product – which can also be replaced by a shimmering eyeshadow in golden, white or silver – in the higher regions of the face. Tip of nose and top of cheekbones are the most common, but to give a more bulky appearance to the lips, it is worth putting a little bit also in the cupid bow.

8- Blush

The blush is essential in the makeup! The product should be applied after the compact powder, with the skin finished, to give a more healthy appearance to the face. Just choose the color best suited to your skin tone and apply with a fluffy and beveled brush on the cheekiest part of the cheeks, in a very subtle way.

9- Eyebrows

Use a cotton swab with makeup remover to wipe any traces of products that may have remained on the eyebrows. The next step is to fill the region with your product of choice. Choose the colour carefully!

10- Mascara

To finish the makeup of the eyes, you can not leave mascara behind! It opens the eyes and leaves the look with a more beautiful finish. But it is important to be careful when applying: the trick is to touch the brush at the root of the lashes and make zigzag movements to the ends, repeating the operation until reaching the desired volume. If there are any smudges, use this tip.

11- Lips

Lipliner: It is important to always apply it before the lipstick, as it can be used to draw the outline of the mouth and also all over the lips, to prolong the durability of the product.

Lipstick: It is the “icing on the cake” in makeup, and finishes the looks to perfection. Just choose your favorite color and apply directly on the lips or even with a brush!

Lip gloss: If you like, apply a thin layer over the lipstick.
